Aikido at Lancaster University ⋆ Martial Arts in Lancaster and Lancashire

Lancaster University aikido club was established in October 2010, in collaboration with Lancaster University Student’s Union and Lancaster Aikido Club. It was founded by Oliver Thorne and Chris Fletcher as an independent Aikido club with close ties to the Lancaster Aikido Club. Classes across the two clubs are co-ordinated so that members from both clubs can gain the benefits of regular and consistent practice of aikido.

This facilitates cross over between the two venues, making it an ideal university society to join, in order to be able get involved with the local community.

£3.00 per session.

I started training aikido with Lancaster University Aikido in my second year of university. Since then I have come a long way, not only with regards to aikido but all aspects of personal development. Aikido is great for instilling self-discipline, an open and honest interaction with the world and a calm, relaxed attitude to life. Over the last 5 years I have watched Lancaster Aikido Club grow from strength to strength, with the club now boasting a packed seminar schedule, frequently inviting highly experienced instructors from a range of backgrounds to teach, giving a well-rounded experience. Lancaster Aikido Club also has a very welcoming social side, giving a sense of community that I feel has particularly benefited me as a student, who otherwise would have few links to Lancaster Life outside of the university.
